Effective Search Engine Optimization – How To Get The Best Rankings Straight Away

Effective search engine optimization is essential for any website owner that wants to increase their traffic. No matter how many ads you place on other websites and in the press the best way to get a larger number of unique visitors is through search engine rankings and online directories.

The concept behind search engine optimization, or SEO, is to make your web pages as attractive as possible to the search engine crawlers. You may have a beautifully designed website that contains incredible images and a perfect layout for reading but this alone will not improve your search engine rankings, there are other factors that are important.

If you think of the times when you use one of the main search engines you should ask yourself how many different pages do you actually look through? It is quite rare for anybody to get to the fourth of fifth pages of the results. For effective search engine optimization your site needs to be on the very first page.

There are a number of techniques that can help you to achieve this -

1. Always keep in mind that every single page of your website can get listed separately. So the tenets of SEO need to be applied to each page and not just your home page.

2. Decide upon the most suitable phrases and keywords for every page. These need to be relevant to the information contained in that specific page as well as a word or phrase that somebody is likely to type into a search engine. There are tools available that you can use to find out how many people have actually typed that specific phrase into a search engine. This can help you refine your ideas to get the maximum results. Remember that search engine phrases do not necessarily make grammatical sense.

3. Every page that you create needs to have a title that contains the most important keyword or phrase. Many people do not do this and simply use the same generic phrase in each page’s title, and this is usually the business name.

4. Use Meta Tags correctly. These exist for the purpose of search engines and correct indexing. There needs to be the Meta title, Meta keywords, and Meta description. The description is the part that will appear below the page title in a search engine so you need to make it concise but also catchy.

5. Whatever you believe to be the most important keywords should be repeated often in the body and content of the web page. But do not go over the top as otherwise the page may be rejected. Understand the correct density.
